Recruitment exercise are started with aptitude-tests. This is an assessment to determine
the candidate's ability to perform some roles. It has different types - verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, abstract reasoning etc.
Inability to pass this test, denies the candidates the job opportunity, because it is a prerequisite to the next stage. You should not allow aptitude-tests to stop you from getting your dream job. To enhance success in your aptitude-tests,
the following should be done.
(1) Carefully Read the test invitation letter.
Most often the test invitation letter contains vital information about the test, like the type of test, the materials and documents required, the venue and time etc. These are vital information which can help your preparation. Com
(2) Search about the company's aptitude-tests pattern.
It is important to have an idea of what you will be expecting in the test especially if it Is not stated in the test invitation. Ask others who have done such test before for clues and also search online. you can search for such thread in forums like ''nairaland" using "google". You will be surprised the amount of valuable information you will get. These information will aid your preparation, so that you will not waste time studying what is not required.
(3) Make use of past questions and test preps.
Few companies and recruitment agencies do repeat their past questions as they collect them after each test. So if you find any of such firm's past question, it will be a huge advantage. Also you can use other test preparatory materials like GMATS, SOL and others. Carry out the self online test to access your performance.
(4) Ensure you come with the required materials and document.
Not following this instruction, can deny you access to the examination. So check to ensure that you have the required documents parked with you. Among these could be passport, id card, certificate, and others.
(5) Avoid lateness to the test.
Lateness can cost you that job. Recruiters frown at lateness. It can even develop tension in you and this is not good for the test. So plan your journey well, putting into consideration the traffic situation, to avoid being held by traffic. Get to the test venue some minutes before the test and be relaxed before the test.
(6) Avoid Tension and anxiety.
This is the mother of confusion and poor memory. Be composed, and don't give fear any place, but be optimistic of your success. Take up the, ''I can do it spirit", and you will see tension disappear!
(7) work with time.
I often hear candidates complain of not doing much because they waisted a lot of time in some questions. This is pathetic! Remember the test is about speed and accuracy, therefore do not spend more time than needed in a question. It is advisable to start first from the easier part of the test to save time for the tougher ones later.
If the test does not allow negative marking, ensure you gues tick the remaining questions few minutes before the time is up. This may give you some marks.
(8) Ensure you follow instructions and be well behaved.
This is important, as failure to follow instructions can mar your success. Do not cheat or attempt to help others. There is no tolerance for malpractice in aptitude-tests unlike in some tertiary institutions. The recruiter is committed in employing the best, so try to be the best in all ramifications. Good luck in your next aptitude-test.
