How To Cope With Regret Mail

The quest for job is a tedious work especially in developing countries where the level of unemployment is high. Most often millions of job seekers apply for just a few jobs. This has greatly reduced the success rate of candidates in job test and interview. Yes! In order to reduce the number, employers raise the standard and pass mark thereby screening many out.
To some getting an interview invitation calls for celebration not minding the aftermath of the interview. This is because such a person has waited for long without any invitation despite the numerous applications. After such interviews, the expectations are high, the applicants will be foreseeing how the salaries and benefits will transform their lives. It is pathetic to note that most of these dreams are cut short with a regret mail. What a pity! The mail will often start like this- ''We appreciate your interest in our firm, but unfortunately you could not make it to the next stage bla bla bla''
This mail causes disappointment and frustration to the recipient.  You could hear exclamations like - oh God! Another regret mail! The truth is that an opportunity has been lost and effort and resources has been waisted! But life must go on. All hope is not lost. It is said that '' when there is life there is hope"
How can a job seeker cope with the trauma of a regret mail?
First Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Yes! do not put all your hope of landing a job on that interview.
Try and prepare well and put in your best, but after the test go on with your job search as if nothing has changed. If it comes successful good but if not, there are other expectations. This will reduce the shock of a regret mail comes.
Do not raise your expectations so high.
Yes, you performed well at the test which is commendable, but don't start counting your chicks until they are hatched! Wait for the success letter before you start planning on how to spend the salary. The truth is that not every applicant will be employed. So while you remain optimistic, do not put all your hope on it.
If the regret letter comes treat it as one of those things in life that you will pass through while on your way to the job God has designed for you. Just know that God's time is the best, and every thing that happens to us is for our good.
Speak about it with a trusted colleague. The weight of a burden is lightened when it is shared with a good colleague. Seek for a person you can rely on and pour out your heart. Relieve yourself of that worry!
Keep on the struggle, don't give up and your dream job will finally come.
